Bet we can tell you where “No Show” Nadine got her campaign cash…

Absentee Councilmember picks up over $120k in campaign cash on Bourbon St.

While ordinary residents of New Orleans District C have their needs ignored by “No Show” Nadine Ramsey, if you’re the owner or purveyor of a Bourbon Street bar or strip club you know the surest way to get your council member to dance to your tune is to show her the money.

“No Show” Nadine has banked over $120,000 in campaign contributions from Bourbon Street interests and neighboring bars alone. Unsurprisingly, she consistently champions for those interests when it comes to loosening French Quarter ordinances to the detriment of everyday New Orleanians.

Kristin Gisleson Palmer, candidate for New Orleans City Council District C, said that “No Show” Nadine is supporting an agenda that puts Bourbon Street profits over the safety of our residents and neighborhoods.

“At a time when we need to be taking smart steps to make the French Quarter a safe and enjoyable place for residents, Councilmember Ramsey has consistently pushed to literally throw the doors open and let the chips fall where they may,” Gisleson Palmer said. “The profit motive of these special interests is to make Bourbon Street and the rest of the Quarter as drunk as humanly possible. And they have found a more-than-willing co-conspirator in 'No Show' Nadine.”

Just months into her term, Ramsey proposed a flurry of ordinances aimed at loosening restrictions on adult-oriented businesses around the city, even stripping away requirements that bars and strip clubs disclose their proximity to churches, schools, and playgrounds. Despite resistance from residents and nearly two dozen neighborhood organizations, Ramsey continued her push for her special interest donors over the people of her district.

Even as she has taken thousands from associates of those targeted in the recent “Trick or Treat” prostitution scandal, Ramsey recently rammed through approval for the new owner of the former Centerfolds at 411 Bourbon St. to build a new third floor without so much as detailing what it will look like or even exactly for what it will be used. Needless to say, the new owner has rewarded “No Show” Nadine with thousands more in campaign cash.
